Improve Bone Health With Bone Strengthening Exercises

How Does OsteoStrong Work?

Whether you’re an athlete, an older adult, or just someone who is attentive to the needs of their body, performing exercises for joints and bones is essential to your overall health and resilience. By taking an innovative, science-based approach, OsteoStrong is solving the problem of how to strengthen bones and joints in a way that is not only proven to yield results, but that is safe and FUN for people of all ages.

But how exactly do we do it?

OsteoStrong provides a unique system for strengthening joints, bones, and muscles by using a process called Osteogenic Loading. During each session, you’ll utilize a series of devices that allow axial compression of bone to emulate the effect of impact –  that means pressure on your bones will be simulated in a way that avoids any damage. Because of the optimized positioning of the human body, loading forces go through the human bone that are far higher than those seen in daily activity or weight training.

Heavy loading is already understood and recommended by all international bodies of medical education, but at OsteoStrong, we make it safer. You’ll receive all the bone-strengthening benefits of bone compression with none of the risks associated with heavy lifting and other activities. This is an ideal method of performing bone-strengthening exercises for seniors and those seeking osteoporosis therapy, but these exercises can benefit anyone of any age or lifestyle.

Frequently-Asked Questions

Why is bone health important for improving osteoporosis?

The bones are the framework for our bodies and provide support and structure. They also protect our organs, store minerals, and produce blood cells. Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become weak and fragile. It's often called the "silent disease" because there are often no symptoms until a bone breaks.

Bone strengthening benefits anyone looking to improve symptoms of osteoporosis because it helps to make bones less likely to break. OsteoStrong is a type of bone strength training that uses low-impact, high-intensity exercises to help increase bone density and reduce the risk of fractures.

How long does it take to build bone density through OsteoStrong?

What do I need to know before visiting OsteoStrong Pittsburgh?

OsteoStrong is proud to be a welcoming, low-pressure environment for building a better you. Here are just a few things people ask us when preparing for their first session:

  • Should I work out before I come to OsteoStrong? While fitness is important to a healthy lifestyle, we recommend that you do not exercise at least 3 hours before a session. This will produce quicker results.

  • What should I wear? Anything you like! From your work attire to yoga pants, you’ll be comfortable in just about anything. That said, skirts and dresses may be prohibitive when sitting on some of our machines, and many members prefer to wear shorts or pants.

  • How about shoes? As long as they don’t have a large heel, any shoes you want to wear are fine. Some members even wear their socks. If you need to change shoes before your session, we have a convenient place for you to store them.

  • Should I leave immediately after my session? There’s no rush! Your OsteoStrong technician is there to spend time with you in order to answer your questions, discuss your results, and further explain membership plans.
